We recommend immediate attention for dental pain or trauma to reduce the risk of irreversible damage.
Types of dental emergencies:
Pain & toothaches
Chipped & broken teeth
Knocked out teeth
Facial swelling or abscess
Broken dentures
Wisdom tooth pain
Our team prioritises dental emergencies to get you out of pain as soon as possible. Treatments for dental emergencies vary depending on the cause and severity.
The dentist will usually begin by taking an x-ray to determine the cause before providing treatment options.
-
The key to long term dental health is regular check-ups, including x-rays. We recommend booking in every 6 months to maintain optimum oral health. This allows us to detect dental disease early and provide treatment options or advice to prevent/minimise further damage.
In addition, our dentists will recommend any preventative treatments such as scale and cleans, fluoride treatments, fissure sealants, mouthguards, night guards, complimentary diet analysis and oral hygiene instructions.
-
Studies show that early positive interactions with the dental team inspires children to keep good dental habits, reducing their chance of dental disease later in life. We recommend bringing your child in before their first birthday.
When you bring your child in we will:
Get them comfortable with the dental environment to avoid future uncertainty.
Teach them why they brush their teeth and what toothpaste does
Review their brushing technique
Gently introduce treatments such as cleaning and polishing
Child Dental Benefits Schedule - $1095 bulk billed for eligible children
Medicare’s Child Dental Benefits Schedule provides individual benefits for a range of basic dental services including check-ups, x-rays, cleaning, fissure seals, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions.
You may use the capped benefit of $1095 to pay for your child’s basic dental services over a two-year period.
If the funds are not fully used within the first year, it can be used in the second year, provided your child is still eligible. After the second year, any remaining balance will not be carried forward.
Children aged between two and seventeen can be assessed for eligibility. Feel free to call our friendly team for help determining if your child is eligible. Or Visit Services Australia to learn more.

Deep cavities or cracks can allow germs into the nerve chamber and cause inflammation or infection of the nerve.
Symptoms of an inflamed or infected nerve include:
No pain
Pain of long duration
Sensitivity to hot or cold
Swelling or temperature
Root Canal Therapy (RCT) can save the tooth, by removing the affected nerve and cleaning the canals, whilst leaving healthy parts of the tooth behind.
It is always better to save a tooth with RCT (where possible). The alternative to RCT is removal of the tooth. When a tooth is removed we would suggest having the tooth replaced with a bridge or implant as missing teeth have the potential to cause future problems.

Wisdom teeth can be difficult to clean which leaves them vulnerable to decay and inflammation of the surrounding gums.
If your wisdom teeth aren’t causing any pain and you can clean them effectively there’s no reason to have them removed.
Our dentists will check your wisdom teeth during routine check-ups. However, you should make an appointment if they begin to cause you any pain.
